Causation can be tricky, especially if you believe in upstream & downstream causes for a happening. I invite you to watch my Instagram video related to the “now infamous” CDC report that came out & gave folks the idea that COVID-19 only caused “6% of deaths.” It’s not correct to interpret the chart that way, and I use my kitchen, a subpar webcam and my coffee mugs to explain the difference between “component causes” and “necessary causes.” I hope it makes sense. Causation is a complicated story. There are component causes & there are necessary causes. You can be going along just fine, until you're not. And sometimes things just happen & knock us off our feet…with no warning at all. But really, overall, the USA is too rich and too smart to be THIS bad at prevention.
