Feeling Groggy? Here’s How to Step Up Your Health Game

By: Zara Sharpe

At the end of the day, we all really only have one job; to look after our health and make sure that we are safe and sound, in general. It’s now always that easy, though, and especially not when everything else in life catches up with us. We need to get our regular day jobs done, have dinner on the table, and look after our family as well.

Luckily, you can easily boost your health game a bit by taking care of these simple steps. Here is a handful of ways you can take even better care of your health and look forward to living with more vitality and energy.

Snack fruit and veggies to stay hydrated

Another point to this is, of course, that you’ll have way more energy by making sure that your body is properly hydrated. Sure, actually drinking water is a fast way to do this – but, by downing a bottle, it’s going to send you to the potty a bit too often than you had in mind.

Try to include the kind of food that contains a lot of water as well so that your body can get it while digesting this food. That way, it will have even more use for it and you can sip smaller amounts of water at a time instead in order to keep your system going.

Luckily, there is a ton of delicious food out there that contains water and doesn’t fill you up with empty calories; think about what to snack during the day, such as celery, carrots and rice cakes, and fall in love with cooking again so that you can cook up healthy food at home.

It’s great for more than just water, though, as your gut health also craves all of the fiber you find in fruit and veggies. Visit a digestive doctor if you have problems, in general, with your gut health and you’ll feel a lot better.

Quit your bad habits

You won’t be able to quit a bad habit unless you have something to fill the void with; it’s that simple. While some people encourage you to have a glass of water every time you feel like having a cigarette, for example, a bigger lifestyle change is in order to make you turn away from your harmful habits.

Focus on exercise, for example, and join a jogging team in order to improve your health. It will feel almost impossible, to begin with, but sooner or later you’ll crave that dopamine that a good run gives and you certainly don’t want to ruin your lungs by having a cigarette either.

Get some quality sleep

Next on the list is, of course, everybody’s favourite way to spend their spare time: safe and sound in their beds and preferably fast asleep. Unfortunately, it’s not always that easy to fall asleep even when we really want to – and it may feel like that first hour after tucking in is somewhat wasted.

We need to find ways to make it a bit easier to fall asleep fast, in other words, and hopefully get it sorted out before bedtime.

Let’s start with the most obvious one first; your bedroom should be aired out before you go to bed, it should be neat and free of clutter and, of course, sparkling clean. The reasons behind this are both physical and psychological, though, as a tidy room certainly helps your mind to relax a bit more.

It should be just what you need to get a night of sound and healthy sleep so that you can face tomorrow’s challenges with a bit more energy and gusto.
